Leafs acquire Matthew Lombardi and Cody Franson
The Toronto Maple Leafs today acquired Matthew Lombardi Matthew Lombardi and Cody Franson from the Nashville Predetors for Brett Lebda and Robert Slaney. This is presumed to be a salary dump for the Predators since they are rumored to sign their captian to a long term deal and need all the cap space they can have. Lombardi was signed to a 3 year deal worth 3.5 million per year in June of last year but only played 2 games due to a concussion from tripping and falling head first into the boards. Sensible trade for both teams but have to give it to the Leafs because of the acquisition of Cody Franson who is a good young 23 year old D-man.
